The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwziekenhuis in Aalst underwent a significant expansion with the realization of a new building for the central sterilization department (CSA), pharmacy compounding according to PIC/S standards, a pathology lab and associated offices. In addition, the underground parking building was expanded by three additional floors, an operation that was both structurally and structurally challenging.
The pent-up parking building required a detailed stability design that took into account the existing foundations and additional loads. Thanks to meticulous analysis and the use of innovative techniques, safe and efficient integration of the new building layers was achieved without disrupting the hospital’s operational activities.
